Packing Supplies You Need
Buy or source moving boxes in London before you start. Strong cardboard boxes in several sizes, bubble wrap, packing paper, tape, and marker pens. Avoid overfilling large boxes—they should be liftable. For books and heavy items, use smaller boxes.
How to Pack Fragile Items
Wrap each item individually in bubble wrap or paper. Cushion the bottom of the box. Fill gaps with scrunched paper so nothing shifts. Label boxes "FRAGILE" and "THIS WAY UP". Pack plates vertically, not flat. Use dividers for stemware.
Room: Kitchen
Pack non-essentials first. Save one box for last-night essentials. Wrap crockery and glassware well. Use tea towels and clothes as extra padding. Label by contents and room.
Room: Bedroom
Pack out-of-season clothes first. Use vacuum bags for bedding and soft items to save space. Keep a change of clothes and toiletries separate for your first night.
Room: Living Room
For ornaments and electronics, use original packaging if you have it. Otherwise, wrap carefully and cushion well. See our furniture delivery guide for large items like sofas.
Label Boxes by Room and Contents
Write the room name and a short description on every box. "Kitchen – pots and pans" or "Bedroom – clothes". This speeds up unloading and helps you find things fast. Create an essentials box for your first night: toiletries, chargers, snacks, basic cutlery.
Pack Seasonally
If you move in summer, pack winter items first. You will not need them straight away. Leave summer clothes and everyday items until last. This keeps unpacking logical when you arrive.
